The UK’s Theresa May resigned today ending a pathetic effort to lead the country in its efforts to leave the European Union. She announced that she will continue to lead the country until her replacement is place.

Fighting back tears, British Prime Minister Theresa May said on Friday she would quit, triggering a contest that will bring a new leader to power who is likely to push for a more decisive Brexit divorce deal.
May said –
Her voice cracking with emotion, May, who endured crises and humiliation in her failed effort to find a compromise Brexit deal that parliament could ratify, said she bore no ill will.
“I will shortly leave the job that has been the honor of my life to hold,” May said. “The second female prime minister, but certainly not the last.”
May’s resignation come as the UK awaits election results expected out in the next few days. May’s Conservative Party is expected to be fifth place in the UK elections while Nigel Farage’s Brexit Party is expected to win the UK vote –
With the public having voted in the European Parliament elections on Thursday, the last polls (taken before voting day) show that Nigel Farage’s Brexit Party was likely to gain the most votes in the UK.
Although the vote took place in the UK on Thursday, the results are not expected until Sunday evening due to most other EU member states casting their votes that day.
The Conservatives are on course for their lowest ever share of the vote in a nationwide ballot and could even slip into fifth place behind the Greens.
The month of May is coming to an end.
